OPC Server License Activation Instructions

After you have purchased an OPC Server license and have obtained your order confirmation email with License ID and Password, there are multiple license activation methods available.

Method 1. The PC that the OPC Server is running on is currently connected to the Internet

*Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

For Allen-Bradley OPC Server:

  1. Start the OPC Server application.

  2. From the OPC Server menu, choose License> License Drivers...

  3. Select the driver that you wish to activate from the list.

  4. Click the [License Online] button to open the 'Online License Activation' dialog.

  5. From the 'Online License Activation' dialog:

    • Choose Yes if you have not purchased a license and wish to order a license online.
    • Choose No if you have already purchased a license and are ready to proceed to the Unlock via Internet dialog.
    • Choose Cancel to exit online activation.

  6. From the 'Unlock via Internet' dialog:

    • Enter License ID and Password from order confirmation email.
    • Click [Ok] button.


    NOTE: If your network has a proxy server that prevents using web services, click the Proxy button and enter the proxy server's address and port.
    Example: proxy.domain.com:80

If the activation completed successfully, the driver status will change to 'Licensed'.

If the activation was unsuccessful, an error dialog will appear and show 'An Error Has Occurred' followed by the error description and error code.

For Modbus and Acromag OPC Servers:

  1. Start the OPC Server application

  2. From the OPC Server menu, choose License> License Online...

  3. From the 'Online License Activation' dialog

    • Choose Yes if you have not purchased a license and wish to order a license online.
    • Choose No if you have already purchased a license and are ready to proceed to the Unlock via Internet dialog.
    • Choose Cancel to exit online activation.

  4. From the 'Unlock via Internet' dialog

    • Enter License ID and Password from order confirmation email.
    • Click [Ok] button.


    NOTE: If your network has a proxy server that prevents using web services, click the Proxy button and enter the proxy server's address and port.
    Example: proxy.domain.com:80

If the activation completed successfully, the dialog will show 'Action completed succesfully!'.

If the activation was unsuccessful, the dialog will show 'An Error Has Occurred' followed by the error description and error code.

  5. Record 'User Code 1' and 'User Code 2' from the 'License Manually' dialog.

  6. Open a browser on any Internet connected device.

  7. Browse to the Manual Activation website

    URL: http://secure.softwarekey.com/solo/unlock/

  8. Enter License ID and Password from order confirmation email.

  9. Click the [Submit] button.

  10. Enter 'User Code 1' and 'User Code 2' recorded in step 5.

  11. Click the [Submit] button.

  12. Record Registration Code 1 from web page.

  13. Return to the OPC Server 'License Manually' dialog.

  14. Enter Registration Code 1 recorded in step 12 in 'License Manually' dialog 'Reg Code 1' field.

  15. Click the [Ok] button.

If the activation completed successfully, the driver status will change to 'Licensed'.

If the activation was unsuccessful, an error dialog will appear and show 'An Error Has Occurred' followed by the error description and error code.

  3. Record 'User Code 1' and 'User Code 2' from the 'License Manually' dialog.

  4. Open a browser on any Internet connected device.

  5. Browse to the Manual Activation website

    URL: http://secure.softwarekey.com/solo/unlock/

  6. Enter License ID and Password from order confirmation email.

  7. Click the [Submit] button.

  8. Enter 'User Code 1' and 'User Code 2' recorded in step 5.

  9. Click the [Submit] button.

  10. Record Registration Code 1 from web page.

  11. Return to the OPC Server 'License Manually' dialog.

  12. Enter Registration Code 1 recorded in step 12 in 'License Manually' dialog 'Reg Code 1' field.

  13. Click the [Ok] button.

If the activation completed successfully, the dialog will show 'Action completed succesfully!'.

If the activation was unsuccessful, an error dialog will appear and show 'An Error Has Occurred' followed by the error description and error code.

If the activation was unsuccessful, an error dialog will appear and show 'An Error Has Occurred' followed by the error description and error code.
